Common jobs and prices
Reproofing a jacket or tent
A jacket that “no longer keeps water out” is, in 9 cases out of 10, not broken; only the DWR finish has worn off. We wash it with the right detergent, renew the finish and set it with heat. If the membrane really is finished, we tell you and charge nothing for the job.
Resoling mountain boots
Good mountain boots outlive two or three soles. A resole costs a third of a new pair, and the boot is already broken in to your foot, which is worth more than the sole. Before resoling we inspect the upper; if it is not worth it, we tell you plainly.
Patching and zip replacement
A torn seam, a pinhole burned by a spark, a zip that splits open. We repair ninety per cent of “ruined” gear within a week for the price of lunch. The patches show. Repaired gear carries its own stories, and we are proud of that rather than apologetic.

Every repair starts with an estimate and an honest date. If it is not worth doing, we tell you plainly and charge you nothing.
