A shop that goes to the mountains
Macesen started on the hill, not in an office. For years we bought gear from catalogues, carried it along ridges and worked out that half the promises do not survive the first rain. One day we decided to sell only what we would buy a second time.
That is why our shelf is short and our descriptions are long: we have carried every piece ourselves, and every description also says the part the manufacturer would rather leave out. If something is not right for you, we tell you before you buy. We would rather lose the sale than your trust.
Tested on our own trips
We have carried everything we sell. What fails to convince us on the hill never reaches the shelf, however handsome its catalogue.
Advice in person
Before we sell you anything, we ask where you walk. Sometimes the best advice is to wait, or to choose something cheaper.
An honest relationship
We name a product's weaknesses, and we say when a repair is not worth it. Trust is the only reason a customer comes back.
